HEALTH-RELATED FACTORS IN ROAD SAFETY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP AVAILABLE

 

A postdoctoral position is currently open for 3 years

 

at the INSERM research team “Injury Prevention and Control” within the INSERM Research Centre U897 (Epidemiology and biostatistics), in Bordeaux, France.

Research Project:

Assessment of health-related risk factors in road traffic crashes.

 

The CESIR project consists in matching nation-wide databases from the health insurance system and police records for injury crashes with the aim to assess the impact of medical drug consumptions on the risk of road traffic crashes. The database has been developed over the 3 past years, with data on 50 000 drivers involved in an injury road crash. The project is to be extended over the 2009-2012 period.

 

Profile :

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in epidemiology and public health with a strong background quantitative background. Training or experience in the following areas would be an asset:

- Medical background

- Statistics applied to epidemiological research

- Pharmacoepidemiology

- Injury epidemiology

- Management of large databases

goals, goals for the postdoctoral fellowship and topics of particular interest. They should include an abstract of their dissertation as well as names of three academic references, of which one must be the dissertation chair. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Start date is negotiable between September 1 and November 30, 2009.

 

Rate of pay: 45,000 € (taxable) package includes fringe benefits (i.e, health insurance, sick leave, and paid vacation. Net income is 25,000 € + potential additional teaching income), for twelve months from start date with a possibility of extending for 1 or 2 years.
